Why Are There So Many Churches but Little Change in Nigeria?

At the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Crossover Service in Lagos, the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, released prophecies that have already sparked serious conversations across Nigeria.

The most striking and controversial part of his message was clear: “Mockers would be louder and more aggressive, but unfortunately, many of them will not survive the year.”

Adeboye, who is fondly called Daddy G.O., did not mince words. He predicted that 2025 will not only be unforgettable but also a year where spiritual lines will be sharply drawn.

According to him, those who ridicule Christians and belittle the things of God will rise in volume and boldness, but their end may come sooner than expected.

This prophecy is already raising eyebrows. Some critics see it as a stern warning meant to silence opposition, while believers interpret it as a serious divine alert.

Whichever way you view it, Adeboye’s words cannot be easily brushed aside, especially considering his influence and the weight his yearly declarations carry within Nigeria’s religious space.

The revered cleric went further to explain that God does not desire the death of anyone, not even the sinner. His heart is for repentance. Yet, Adeboye lamented that many people have already made up their minds to reject God, leaving them exposed to judgment.

Interestingly, he also spoke of towns and villages that will rejoice in victory, suggesting that 2025 will be a year of sharp contrasts, joy and breakthrough for some, disaster and sorrow for others.

He described the coming months as a landmark period filled with both challenges and blessings. For committed believers, Adeboye assured that testimonies will abound and many will see firsthand that it truly pays to serve God.

But the line that lingers in public memory is still his warning about mockers. In a country where religion and skepticism often clash, this statement may well be one of the most debated prophecies of 2025.

The big question now is: Will 2025 truly prove fatal for those who mock faith, as Adeboye has declared, or will critics turn these words into another point of ridicule? Time, as always, will tell.
